May: Joins hairstylist Orlando Pita and makeup guru Bobbi Brown on The Oprah Winfrey Show to make over four Chicago police officers. July: Appoints a chairman and CEO of Michael Kors China, capitalizing on the nation's increasing appetite for luxury. The company plans to open boutiques in Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia, and the Philippines before year's end. August: Marries Lance LePere in a barefoot ceremony on Dune Beach in Southampton, New York. September: Launches men's underwear and sleepwear. Debuts Destination Kors, an online journal/blog featuring news, personal musings, and travel diaries. December: Along with Sportswear Holdings Ltd. owners Silas Chou and Lawrence Stroll, takes the company public on the New York Stock Exchange in one of the biggest IPOs for a U.S. fashion business. Some 47.2 million shares are sold, at $20 per share; share price soon more than doubles.
